Congratulations to all of my friends and former colleagues at Airbnb for achieving the status of a public company today.

It's been quite a journey -- when I first heard of Airbnb nearly 10 years ago, I thought "I'll never sleep on someone's sofa."

I didn't get it.

By the time I joined the company as their general counsel in 2016, I got it -- in an age where everything is about computers and social media, Airbnb is about connecting people on a very human level through immersive travel experiences.

Thank you to the many Airbnb hosts who opened their doors to me personally, and to the millions of Airbnb hosts who have joined this phenomenal platform over the years. and made today's milestone possible.

Going public isn't the end of the journey, it's just a milestone along the way.

So much more this company can and will do.

I'm rooting for them, still.
